Sales/Market Development Manager-NE US
    JO-2901-Market Development Manager or ??

July 22, 2026. by Charles Bamford, Rockwood Energy Search

Title: "That Depends on What You Bring to the Table"

        Location: Remote

        Background

One of our clients, who is a major player in the energy advisory business, would like to kill two birds with one stone: 1) expand its New England/Northeast presence and 2) create partnerships with firms in parallel lines of business.

The timeline depends on the market and how a knowledgeable business developer wants to address the problem.

Of course, the incumbent will have to convince the head of revenue growth that the approach is the best.

At one extreme, this manager-level person could just sell some select big accounts.

At the other extreme, he/she could find some major business partners who could work with this vendor to provide joint consulting to reduce energy procurement costs.

An example might be a mid-sized real estate consulting firm.

The title might end up being "Partnership Manager", or "Sales Director" or "Key Accounts Manager."

Career Potential: Again, that depends.  If someone wants to be a senior manager, these types of jobs are great stepping stones.

If you want to be a regional manager, that's an easy next step.

        Travel: As required.

        Principal Duties

Use his/her background to conduct market research to determine a strategy that works.

Develop a sales plan with key steps and timing.

        Relevant Skills and Experience Desired

        • Demonstrated understanding of NE region C&I markets.

        • Have at least 5-8 years of relevant sales experience.

        • Demonstrated knowledge of the C&I Energy Market in the Northeast.

        • Demonstrated knowledge of energy procurement issues in power and/or natural gas.

        Compensation

Significant base salary plus incentive pay.
