Resumes Are Rotten Career Marketing Tools
Sending out volumes of resumes yields few useful results.
I recently was asked by a good client to help the son of a friend find a new job. Not in the energy business, but very well-educated, hard-working and motivated. Not only has a job but simultaneously working on a small startup idea.
He said that he had sent out 700 resumes over the past year and had not received any useful responses.
I was not surprised, since I have been lecturing our candidates on the futility of using resumes as a marketing tool for years.
